Sheep Among Wolves

I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefor be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves
Matthew 10:16

The reality of our lives is that we are living in a fallen world. The bible tells us that our citizenship is not from here but from heaven. The problem is, we often forget who we are and where we came from. We tend to live our lives according to the pattern of this world and according to our sinful desires.

In our passage today Jesus tells us that he is sending us out like sheep among wolves. A sheep among wolves has no chance. In the same way, if we live with worldly desires or our sinful desires, we have no chance. The bible tells us the the devil prowls, waiting for someone to devour. This tells me that the moment I let my guard down, the moment I compromise my integrity, the devil is right there waiting to pounce on me.

The good news is that a sheep with his sheppard is safe. That means when we are connected to the heart of Jesus Christ, there is nothing that can tear us down. Living in a fallen world with temptation all around us, is no match to the presence of God.

Prayer:
Father, as you send me out to be your living testimony would you protect me from the temptations of this world. Give me a heart that is sold out for you and a mind that is set on you.
